USCGC Southwind WAGB 280
The Polar Prowler
USCGC Southwind
Association Members
The Southwind Association was formed in 2008 prior to our first reunion in Charleston, SC.
The following statement reflects the purpose of the association:
"To remember the USCGC
Southwind (WAGB-280), and our fellow shipmates and shared experiences from
nearly a half a century ago."

The following shipmates have paid the Southwind Association registration fee of $25.00 (and
in some instances much more) and are, along with the remainder of the first fifty members,
designated as "Southwind Association Plankowners." These names are highlighted in blue in
the list below**. Those who register after the first fifty members are designated as "Southwind
Association Supporters" and are highlighted in red. The names highlighted in green are
designated as "Honorary" members of the Southwind Association. The registration money pays
for obligated and projected expenses for the upcoming reunion and other expenditures such
as the annual website fee. Currently, as in the past, these fees have been paid for personally
by the three chairmen, but there are enough Southwind shipmates now to equally share this
honorable obligation.

**The names of Marco Volante, Ed Eastlick, Harold Steindler, and Archibald Kelley below are
the exception to first 50 names limit. Marco, Ed, Harold, and Archibald were aboard the
Southwind when she was commissioned in July 1944 and are the only survivors of that original
crew that we have been able to locate. Marco, Ed, Harold and Archibald are truly Southwind
plankowners and are deserving of being designated as plankowners in the Southwind
Association.

The names highlighted in gold have been designated as "Lifetime" association members.
